Air conditioning for the welding shop at PALFINGER in Niš
For the new construction of PALFINGER's production facility in Niš, INFRANORM® developed a holistic concept for hall conditioning and factory air purification for the welding hall. The goal was an economical solution for fresh air supply, air purification, heating, and cooling, while meeting high standards for energy efficiency and air quality. The integrated Sustainable Hall Conditioning System creates stable hall conditions year-round and significantly reduces energy consumption.

Project details
For the new PALFINGER production facility in Niš, a high-performance ventilation infrastructure was required for the welding hall. The approximately 30,000 m³ production hall needed to be conditioned year-round . At the same time, high internal heat loads as well as welding and grinding emissions had to be safely extracted.
Special framework conditions arose from the implementation under local legal and regulatory requirements in Serbia, the import logistics for large components, and linguistic and organizational interfaces. The system was designed for a total of 150,000 m³/h fresh air volume flow with five air changes per hour.
INFRANORM® implemented an integrated Sustainable Hall Conditioning system with stratified ventilation, heat recovery, industrial air purification and two-stage adiabatic cooling. Two air handling units, each with an air capacity of 75,000 m³/h, provide fresh air supply, filtration, heating and cooling. The heat recovery system achieves a transfer capacity of up to 460 kW.
The result is stable hall conditions with a target temperature of 25 °C, high air quality in the workspace, and energy-efficient operation. Compared to conventional cooling, up to 81 % in energy costs saved and CO₂ emissions by up to 90 % reduced.
"What was crucial for us was a solution that takes into account indoor climate control, air quality, and energy efficiency as a whole and can be operated economically over the long term."
