Efficient hall cooling for hygienic production processes at Gmundner Molkerei

The Gmundner Molkerei invested in modern zone conditioning in order to sustainably reduce high temperatures in the area of packaging lines. In the summer months in particular, thermal pollution increases sharply and affects both employees and plants. The aim was to create a hygienically safe, pleasant and energy-efficient working environment without disrupting production operations.

  • sector: Food industry
  • customer: Gmundner Molkerei GmbH
  • location: Gmunden, Austria
  • Category: Sustainable Hall Conditioning
  • solution: Economical cooling, heat recovery, airing
  • KPIs: Fresh air flow rate of up to 14,000 m³/h for two cooling zones, 75% savings in energy costs, 79% CO₂ reduction compared to traditional solutions
  • Year of execution: 2024

Project details

Zone conditioning supplies two packaging zones, each with an area of 40 m², with up to 14,000 m³/h of chilled fresh air per hour. Through the combination of two-stage adiabatic cooling, stainless steel pipes and specially developed suspension systems for textile air hoses, draft-free and uniform temperature control is achieved.

The existing negative pressure balance in the hall made an additional exhaust fan superfluous and makes a significant contribution to energy efficiency. The assembly was carried out under continuous operation and in accordance with strict hygiene standards in the food industry.

The result: Noticeably more pleasant temperatures on packaging lines, better air quality, increased productivity and energy-efficient operation.

“Thanks to the tailor-made solution from INFRANORM®, we were able to both ensure air quality in our production hall and ensure a constant room temperature of 18°C — all in an extremely energy-efficient way. ”

The customer company

Die Gmundner Molkerei is one of the most important companies in the Austrian dairy industry. More than 1,750 farmers from Upper Austria, Salzburg and Lower Austria deliver around 950,000 liters of raw milk every day, which is processed into high-quality milk and cheese products by around 380 employees. As an IFS-certified company at a higher level, the dairy meets the highest hygienic, ethical and ecological standards. In addition, all products bear the AMA seal of approval and are GMO-free.
