Sustainable Hall Conditioning for Mechanical Processing at Austria Druckguss

Austria Druckguss (ADG) is a leading manufacturer of high-quality die cast parts for the automotive industry. In the “Mechanical Processing 4” hall in particular, CNC milling and drilling processes create significant heat loads, which lead to very high and fluctuating temperatures in summer. The previous ventilation system was unable to absorb these loads. The aim was to ensure a constant, pleasant hall temperature all year round in order to sustainably improve both working conditions and production quality.

Project details

For ADG, a Sustainable Hall Conditioning System implemented that combines four adiabatic cooling units with two ventilation units. The system automatically selects the best operating mode in terms of energy from outside air, cooled outdoor air or recirculated air and makes optimum use of the process waste heat from the machines. As a result, maximum fresh air can be supplied even at low outdoor temperatures without causing heating costs.

The two-stage adiabatic cooling system delivers up to 56,000 m³/h of cooled outdoor air and saves around 75 percent of energy compared to conventional chillers. Textile air tubes with laser perforations ensure draft-free, uniform temperature control of the entire hall. Dew point monitoring and humidity limitation ensure a stable indoor climate even on warm, humid days.

The result: Constant temperatures, improved air quality, higher process stability and energy-efficient year-round operation.

“The cooling technology, which saves energy and operating costs, was the decisive factor in installing a hall conditioning system. Compared to other systems, we save over 75% of energy costs and benefit from a low-maintenance system. We are particularly impressed by the high air quality due to the large amount of fresh air despite the energy-saving operation. ”
