INFRANORM® wins IÖB Prize 2020: Climate Protection without Compromises
INFRANORM won the IÖB Summer Call® Technologie GmbH beat out other submissions with its sustainable hall conditioning solution and won the Overall victory of the IÖB Prize. The award confirms the performance of a technical concept that combines highly efficient hall cooling with measurable reductions in CO₂ emissions and operating costs.
Technology with proven impact
The prize-winning Sustainable Hall ConditioningTechnology aims at a fundamental reorientation of indoor air conditioning in industrial plants. It combines energy-efficient control methods with thermodynamic optimization — without the use of climate-damaging refrigerants.
According to current evaluations, the use of the system by a large industrial user, MAGNA Energy Storage Systems, to the following effects:
- 87% less CO₂ emissions Compared to conventional hall cooling
- 78% lower operating costs
- Avoid using climate-damaging refrigerants
The result: Savings of around 124 tons of CO₂ per year and at the same time a significant reduction in ongoing energy costs.
Significance for Industry and Energy Efficiency
Industrial companies are under increasing pressure to systematically reduce emissions without jeopardizing production and process stability. Solutions such as Sustainable Hall Conditioning address this balancing act technically — not rhetorically. The reduced costs and significant CO₂ savings suggest that highly efficient indoor air conditioning is no longer a “nice-to-have” but an operational lever for energy and resource efficiency.
What is the IÖB price?
The IÖB Prize is an award within the Austrian initiative “Innovation-promoting Public Procurement (IÖB)”. The aim of IÖB is to help public clients to put innovative solutions into practice more quickly through procurement and pilot projects — and at the same time to provide innovative companies with structured access to public sector users.
The IÖB Summer Calls are a central format for this: Together with Ministries, the IÖB Service Center specifically searches for innovations (including for climate protection applications), evaluates the submissions and awards the best-rated solutions.
