Heat recovery and energy optimization in glass production at Stölzle
Stölzle Oberglas produces energy-intensive glass and has therefore relied on heat recovery for many years. The existing heat exchanger was contaminated by heavy deposits and was only able to provide a fraction of the intended output. The aim of the project was to significantly increase energy efficiency and to completely feed the waste heat from the glass tank back into the district heating network.

Project details
The old heat exchanger was heavily clogged by deposits and was only able to utilize around 200 kW of heat from glass production. INFRANORM® replaced the entire shell-and-tube heat exchanger and thus restored the original output of around 1.4 MW. During the replacement, two cranes were used to safely carry out the precise lifting and assembly work. The downtime remained minimal. Through the new heat exchanger The annual energy supply increases by six million kilowatt hours and profitability increases significantly.
The result: Maximum energy efficiency, significant cost savings and an important contribution to the company's sustainability goals.
“Optimizing the heat exchanger is an important step towards sustainable production. The significantly increased heat recovery confirms the success of the exchange. ”
